Our Prayer For You 15 May 2020

Brother Matthew McPherson offers “Our Prayer for You 15 May 2020” for Front-Line, Essential Workers and Business Owners.

My Brothers, Sisters and Friends

We hope that you are well. However, we continue to suggest that if you or anyone you know is in need of prayer or any other forms of support, please let us know. A request for prayer can be made on the church’s website. Based on your feedback so far, we appreciate your concern for each other. We are encouraging those who want to provide any form of support for persons who are in need at this time, to do so. One of the avenues to give support is through the church office.

Laurie London and many others have put voice to a song of assurance that is entitled: “He’s got the whole world in His hands.”

He’s got the whole world in His hands.
He’s got the itty bitty baby in His hands.
He’s got you and me brother in His hands.
He’s got you and me sister in His hands.
He’s got the whole world in His hands.
He’s got the whole world in His hands.”

Lyrics – “He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands

God is acquainted with what is happening to us, and the world at large. As the word of God states:

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

Hebrews 4:13 (NIV)

We are reminded that God is still in control and He holds all things in His hands. We have to seek and find our rest/peace in Him. Also, we should continue to trust that He will take care of us, as we compassionately care for the vulnerable in our deeds, and pray for others, as well as ourselves.

Today’s prayer is led by Matthew McPherson. Matthew is thirteen years of age. He assists, at times, in the area of the Multimedia Ministry and is a member of our Youth In Praise Ministry (YIP).

Let us now look to the Lord in prayer:

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ, we thank You, Lord, for another day that You give each one of us to live.

Lord, we thank You for your daily guidance in our lives.

I come to You today Lord, asking for forgiveness for what everyone has done wrong. I ask that You forgive us of all our sins.

Lord, many people in the world are suffering at this time. I am asking if You can touch the sick and shut-ins, and the people who are suffering really badly in Jamaica, and the world where the COVID-19 disease is happening. This COVID-19 is not of You, Lord.

Lord, we ask that You bless and touch the doctors, nurses and everyone who is working in the public and treating people.

Lord, we remember especially those connected to our church:

  • Medical Doctors: Asana Anderson Wilks and Rohan Wilks, Kahlete Falloon, Tina Kong, Vernon Jones, Leighton Logan;
  • Dentists: doing emergency cases; Jhenell Black, Dana Jones, Eleanor Reynolds;
  • Pharmacists: Sandra Bucknor-Jones, Viveen Watson;
  • other doctors and nurses from GMC or in connection with members and adherents of GMC who are working on the frontline (for example Dr. Richard Reynolds) and their families.

Lord we put to You our national leaders including: Prime Minister Andrew Holness, Minister of Health Christopher Tufton, Minister of Finance Nigel Clarke, health workers and support staff, Minister of National Security Horace Chang, Peter Philips leader of the opposition and their families; Jamaica Defence Force and Jamaica Constabulary Force personnel and Security Guards.

We are counting on You Lord to help us. We are praying that everyone will work together and do what is told. Lord, the people who do not agree, Lord, we are asking for guidance for them. Lord reach out to them so that they will follow Your footsteps and become children of God, and be more in Christ.

I pray that You will bless everyone, Lord.

Lord, we ask that You will help business leaders and essential workers in Jamaica and the world. Remember especially:

  • Merchandisers and manufacturers: Spacie Shepherd and others, Supermarket workers, restaurant workers, manufacturer workers, taxi drivers;
  • Custom Brokerage: Loy Evans, Jackie Mair, Janet Williamson and others;
  • Judges: Paula Blake Powell, Grace Henry McKenzie;
  • Lawyers: Ilene Felix, Nicole Roberts, Donahue Martin Jnr. And others;
  • Airport: Alecia English;
  • Business owners: Ewan and Maxine Oliver; Lanna and Desmond Bennett; Warrick Bogle, Carol and Leroy Blake, Marcia Leair, Robert and Beveline Smith, Paulette Dixon, Kemorine and Karl Henry, Ava Comrie, Catherine Barkley and husband, Cornel Richards and family, Everton Lewis, Pauline and Mark Garvey, Maxine and Benedict Ranger, Melva Knight, Nicole Fender, Sharon Baldie, Karl Jones and others.

Lord we ask that Your blessings will be on us;
in Your name I pray, with thanksgiving.

Amen.
