NEWS AND PRAYER UPDATE – AFRICA MISSIONS 2023
This is the RENEWED Ministries update for 21 April 2023, as provided by Reverend Courtney Richards.
Hello friends and prayer partners. Greetings from rainy Tanzania. It’s been raining on and off since we got here last week. This is the rainy season here.
We finished the training in Tanzania on leadership, discipleship and sports ministry. The retreat centre where we did the training is owned and operated by the Roman Catholic church. Up the road, there are two or more Muslim mosques. An Assemblies of God church is nearby. A private elementary school is across the road. The students come to school as early as 6:30 AM Monday to Friday and are in school till 4-5 PM!! You get the picture of where we are. There’s a cacophony of competing sounds and noises calling for their own attention from 5 am each morning (the first Muslim call to prayer for the day) to late at night. It’s also Ramadan so Muslims are in full focus on and demonstration of their religious beliefs and practices. Such a fascinating cultural and religious mix takes some adjusting to!
The training was exceedingly well received by those who we trained. They expressed gratitude and some said though they had been taught on discipleship before they had never been taught discipleship “The Jesus Way.” One of the pastors shared that he appreciated how we connected leadership and discipleship – leaders must be involved in making disciples‼️

Please pray that they now go and practice what they learned especially the strategic plan for making and multiplying disciples that they all worked on.
We are scheduled to leave tonight – Friday or early Saturday morning to be exact – for Nairobi, Kenya for rest and to meet with my mentees there next week to discuss how they’re fulfilling the mission and vision of making and multiplying disciples and leading disciple-making movements. Please pray for safe travels for all of us and for the anointing and empowering of God’s Spirit to make and multiply disciples and expand the ministry in Africa for the Kingdom and glory of God.
