NEWS AND PRAYER UPDATE – AFRICA MISSIONS 2023

This is the RENEWED Ministries update for 23 January 2023, as provided by Reverend Courtney Richards.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Dear friend and prayer partner,

Dear friend and prayer partner, a blessed, productive, fruitful, and God-honoring 2023 to you. This is my first news update for 2023 and I am grateful to God for you, for your prayers, encouragement, and financial support. You are a vital part of this ministry and I pray for you constantly. May Christ be formed in you to the glory of the Father!

A few months ago, one of my sons from South Sudan, told me of his desire to return to his homeland from the refugee camp in Kenya where he lives, to minister to and train people to make disciples The Jesus Way as we do it. He told me that he would be traveling with a friend. He said that another friend, living somewhere else, had promised him US$3000 for their trip, which would be over several weeks. Unfortunately, the friend declined at the last minute saying he needed the money for something else. My son asked me to pray with him for God to provide for him to go home to serve his people. Well…God did! Someone stood in the gap and gave him US$1200. Although that was less than what they needed they set off in early December by bus, instead of by plane as they had originally planned. This took a couple of days of travel.

Since then, they have been walking, yes, walking, all over South Sudan making disciples, praying for the sick in hospitals and on the roads, visiting schools, training people in churches and under trees how to follow Jesus His way, not our way! Hundreds of persons have been ministered to and dozens have surrendered their lives to Jesus!

Three things stand out for me about his Missions outreach to South Sudan. 1. He and his friend are walking with a knapsack (backpack) on their backs with their clothes and personal items and their bed in their hand, a simple covered sponge mat!! They walk, they minister and they sleep where night overtakes them! How many of us in the West would dare do that?! 2. He told me, last week, that his vision is to find and train 63 persons to lead disciple-making in the 63 provinces of South Sudan. 3. He says he is willing to DIE for what God has called him to do! What amazing commitment and devotion to God and to making disciples, The Jesus Way, in a dangerous place!!!!

These are the kind of people, most of them young, that we are called to train and mentor and cast vision for disciple-making in Africa and elsewhere. These are the kind of Christ followers that YOU pray for and support but never meet and likely won’t meet this side of heaven. But YOU are eternally linked to them. THANKS! PRAISE GOD!!

So, as our teams prepare for Missions 2023 to Nepal, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda (with persons from Burundi and The Democratic Republic of Congo), Malawi, and South Africa, I ask you most kindly and most graciously to continue to pray for us and to give generously so that more radical disciples of Jesus are made and more leaders are found to lead disciple-making movements all over Africa and all over the world.

We thank God for your prayers and your giving. We still need US$33,000 to meet our Missions budget for 2023. We are in the process of buying airline tickets and making deposits on housing for our teams and those we will be training. If you have not given yet, now is the time. If you have given already, please consider giving more! WE NEED IT.

Please send your gifts by check/cheque to: RENEWED Ministries, P.O. Box 1229, Mishawaka, Indiana, USA 46546, or via PayPal on our website at: www.renewed-ministries.org.

Thanks so very much for your partnership with us in reaching the nations with the gospel of the Kingdom to make and multiply disciples, The Jesus Way, for the glory of God. May God continually bless and enrich your life and all your loved ones with His choicest gifts.

Coram Deo,
Always in God’s grip,
Courtney
