Special Healing Prayer

Special Healing Prayer For 3 May 2020

Deacon Arlene Tomlinson offers this Special Healing Prayer for 3 May 2020.

Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another.

My Brothers, Sisters and Friends,

Many are hurting, ill, lost loved ones, concerned for loved ones who are ill, depressed, feeling lost, uncertain, panicking, lost jobs or hours, lost businesses, and the list goes on. We are thankful and give all glory to God for those of our members whose relatives have made marked improvements as they stand in the fight against the COVID-19 which has attacked them. We are trusting God for complete healing, and we give all glory, honour and praise to God for those who still have good health, businesses and jobs.

Today we reflect on the death and resurrection of our Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ knowing that it is by His stripes that we are physically and emotionally healed.

We now do a special prayer of healing. This will be led by our own Deacon Arlene Tomlinson.

Let us pray:

“Lord, Be Gracious To Us; We Long For You. Be Our Strength Every Morning, Our Salvation in Time of Distress.”

Isaiah 33:2, NIV

Merciful and Loving God, in the name of Jesus Christ we come to You in our weakness. We come to You in our fears. We come to You with trust, for You alone are our hope. Heavenly Father, we come to you right now amongst a cloud of uncertainty. The COVID-19 has spread amongst peoples, male and female, young and old. As a people united, we cry out. Do not be far from us God but come quickly to help us.

Our Father Who art in heaven, today we storm the throne of Grace for those who are currently afflicted by COVID-19. We ask for the miraculous. Bring restoration and health we pray. May respiratory systems especially lungs be restored to full health; temperatures be stabilized, headaches dissolved, body aches disbanded and strength of mind and body be restored. We pray especially for family members of our members (in the USA) who have been afflicted with the Virus; Jellisa Grant (Sister (not elder) Mary Clark’s step-daughter) Sonia Williams (Sister Juliet Grey’s aunt), Homer Gordon (Sister Michelle Donald’s cousin).

We believe that Thou, O Lord, art a shield for us, our glory, and the lifter up of our heads.  Take away the fear, anxiety, and feelings of isolation from persons receiving treatment, under quarantine or who are just simply afraid amidst these uncertain times. Give them a sense of purpose and the assurance that you are their Hiding Place and that You will protect them from trouble and surround them with songs of deliverance.  Lift their heads and their spirits as only you can Lord.  In their anxieties be their hope, in their darkness be their light.

For those who are battling other illnesses, lay Your healing hand upon them Jesus. When we cry out to You for help, may Your response be “I am Willing” just like the time You healed the leper. Father we place before you Sisters: Iris Lawrence, Jennifer Nicholson, Virginia Muir; Joy Robinson – Canada (friend of Sister Michelle Dinald); Claris Johnson (mother of Jehan Johnson); Marville (Cherry) Murray (Sister Iris Lawrence’s daughter); Janet Chen-Young, Joyce Bailey, Lucille Alexander, Jhada Graham, Athlyn Atkins, Brother George Gabbidon and Andrew Robinson (Sister Claire Robinson’s son). We also lift up those on our regular list of sick and shut-ins.

Lord Jesus, during Your ministry on Earth You showed Your power and caring by healing people of all ages and walks of life from physical, mental, and spiritual ailments. Be present now with those who are in need of Your loving touch because of the different illnesses. May they feel Your power of healing through their doctors, nurses and loved ones. Lord we ask that you strengthen their caregivers.

Almighty Father, we know that You are close to those who are brokenhearted and grieving in their souls. Your Word tells us that You rescue those who are crushed in spirit. We ask that you draw near to Your many children who are facing times of sadness and loss. Draw each one ever closer into Your precious arms of love and support.

Jesus, we pray that You console those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Let them be comforted by Your promises. Please sit next to them Jesus and weep with them. Give to those who mourn peace in the midst of their tears. You are the Resurrection and the Life! We know and believe this! Remember especially; Lanna Bennett (lost father and a cousin), Darlene Jones (lost mother), Margaret Harriot (lost a daughter), Janet (Ann Marie) Johnson (lost an uncle), Angela Rose Lee (lost a cousin); also, Pastor Omar and Maria Morrison (Pastor Omar lost his mom); Pastor Dalkeith and Claudette Bennett (Sister Claudette lost her mom).

We ask Father that You will prompt friends and family members to be their physical and emotional support, to grieve with them, and to show love and compassion to them. In Your time Lord God of comfort, bestow upon them a crown of beauty, anoint them with Your oil of joy, and clothe them in garments of praise for the spirit of heaviness.

Glorious Father, we bring to Your throne doctors, nurses, medical technicians, first responders and all other healthcare professionals, whom You have called for the purpose of healing and comforting the sick. We thank You for the skills you have given them, which enable them to bring hope, healing, and wholeness to those in their care.

Father at the moment when they are struggling to heal those who are suffering from the deadly Virus, we ask You to take care of their health. Carry their burdens and walk with them. Remind them to be strong and courageous and not to be terrified or dismayed because You are with them all the way. Remind them to cast their burdens on You because Your yoke is easy and Your burden is light. We pray especially for family members working in critical positions overseas and are mainly in direct contact with persons inflicted with the COVID-19 Virus – Camille Wilson (Sister Sandra Wilson’s daughter), Yannick and Grace Lyon (Sister Arlene Tomlinson’s nephew and his wife), and Claudette Burnett (Brother Devon Burnett’s sister)

Local persons with a high risk of direct exposure to COVID-19: Doctors: Asana Anderson Wilks and Rohan Wilks, Kahlete Falloon, Tina Kong, Vernon Jones, Leighton Logan and Richard Reynolds.

Father, Father, our hearts are crying out to You because we see where domestic violence is on the rise. We can only imagine the desperation and hopelessness persons are feeling. Father, we all want to be loved, and the heartache that comes from an abusive spouse can leave the abused feeling empty and worthless. Please be with them. Draw them to yourself, Lord. Allow them to feel your presence in their lives. Abba Father, help the abused to recognize that when they feel dominated, disgraced and even dejected.

For those who know You as Lord and Saviour help them to stand up and declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper because they are delivered by the blood of Jesus and are children of the Most High God! Allow them to understand that while their spouse is hurting them in unimaginable ways, You are their safety. You invite us to come to You with all our troubles, and You offer to carry our burdens for us. Give these victims a heart for You, that they may lean on You and have a peace that passes all understanding. Give them a heart to pray for their abuser, to love them and not be consumed by hate. Father, keep these victims safe. Protect them from the hand of their abusers.

For the abusive spouse, we ask that You would silence their hateful words, that You would still their threatening hand, but above all, that You would change their hearts. We pray, we beg You, to draw these abusers to Yourself, to make them aware of their sin so that they will be brokenhearted over the pain they have caused.

We also lift up the children who are being abused and neglected during this time. They aren’t responsible for the bad choices of their parents or for the hard times that have affected their family life. Lord, provide for these children and protect them. Allow Your Spirit to minister to their young hearts. Help them to see that You have not forgotten them.

We ask that You would release those who abuse substances such as alcohol and other forms of drugs, those who are depressed and those who harbour evil in their hearts. Whatever influences their behavior, Father, we ask that You would free them of this! We ask that You would restore unity in these homes and make these homes ones that worship and glorify You, rather than grieve You.

Dear God, we pray for the marginalized of our societies we ask for protection. We pray that You shelter the elderly and vulnerable from the COVID-19 under Your wings. May it not cross the threshold of their homes. For those who have nowhere to lay their head, may You not only protect them but whisper to the hearts of those right now who have the resources to give them shelter. Merciful father, burden the hearts of persons to care for the orphaned, the widowed, the refugee, the poor, and the oppressed, who are going through this difficult period.

O Lord we pray for comfort and peace for the family of the late Jodian Fearon who recently died under questionable circumstance. We ask for Your covering and guiding hand over the life of the child she has left behind. Help us as a country to have the necessary resources and make the right decisions to protect the sanctity of lives.

Father God, we recognize that we are nothing without You and can do nothing without You. So we pray that You Lord God will pour out Your Spirit on all flesh and bring about restoration, revival and dependence like never before on You Lord.

We thank You for hearing our prayers Lord as we declare that You are worthy our Lord and God to  receive glory and honour and praise.
In Jesus’ name we pray with thanksgiving.

Amen.
