Celebrating what God has done through Vision 2025: People
This year, we are celebrating all that God has done through Vision 2025. Just over 25 years ago, Bible translation movements were challenged to embrace changes that would help us to work more effectively so that Scriptures could become available much more quickly than before to every language community that needs access to the Bible in a language they can understand. We will look periodically at how God has worked to bring this vision closer to reality, and we invite you to join us as we celebrate the wonderful ways in which God has changed Bible translation movements.
This week, we are celebrating and praying for all the people who became newly involved in Bible translation movements in the past 25 years, and the new and diverse roles they play.

Ambassadors, workers and supporters: Hungary
Wycliffe Hungary connected with Vision 2025 by setting the ambitious goal of finding 25 ambassadors, 25 key financial supporters and 5 people who can join the team and support Bible translation movements from Hungary or abroad by the end of 2025. Praise God they have found 17 ambassadors and there are four committed people who are interested in serving in Bible translation movements in the future. Pray for God’s clear guidance in their lives. However, Wycliffe Hungary has found only four out of the desired 25 key financial partners. Believing God’s Word which says, ‘praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you’ (Deuteronomy 8:10), staff are trusting in God’s provision. Please pray that they will be able to meet this goal by the end of the year.
Committing to Vision 2025: El Salvador
Asociación TRES, El Salvador, became committed to Vision 2025 in 2004 after several of its members participated in a Bible translation training conducted by José de Dios, then Wycliffe’s Area Director for the Americas. Over the past 25 years, TRES has encouraged the participation of more than 500 churches nationwide and shared the need to send workers to serve in communities that need access to the Bible in their languages. TRES staff have also shared about Bible translation with missionary organisations and Christian education centers. TRES has initiated a process of responsible missionary sending to the field in coordination with the churches that have adopted Vision 2025. TRES also began to encourage mission agencies in Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Venezuela to join Vision 2025. TRES staff are grateful for the faithful commitment of the Wycliffe Global Alliance, which helped build capacity in the organisation. Through its shared vision with the Alliance, TRES is motivated to see people benefiting from God’s Word in their own languages and being part of God’s mission. Give thanks for TRES’ commitment to serving in God’s mission by participating in Vision 2025 on behalf of the world’s Bible translation movements.
Collaborative data sharing to allocate people, resources: Global
One of the results of Vision 2025 has been the development of new means of sharing information that informs decisions about where to focus translation resources and people. ProgressBible serves as a collaborative hub where multiple organisations unite around shared measurements, contributing data based on trust, partnership and mutual accountability. As a programme, ProgressBible navigates the intersection of data analysis and relationship stewardship, knowing that both are vital to fulfilling God’s mission.
- Pray for God’s wisdom and guidance to balance these roles well.
- Ask God’s help to remain sensitive to the needs of the people they serve. These workers rely on the data Progress.Bible stewards and the insights provided to make decisions that impact millions of people in language communities around the globe.
- Pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance in every decision, conversation and task, ensuring they act with wisdom, grace and diligence.
- Pray for the ongoing platform migration. The new platform is designed to improve the user experience, offering faster, more intuitive tools. Ask God for a smooth transition, minimal disruption for users, and for the new platform to enhance organisations’ ability to use data for Kingdom impact.
Embracing Vision 2025: Paraguay, Brazil
Letra Paraguay, an organisation dedicated to all people having the Word of God in their own languages, has embraced Vision 2025, firmly believing that God will use them to help achieve these goals. To fulfil this vision, God has brought individuals, families, churches and organisations to Letra Paraguay to work together to make this dream possible. Currently, a series of linguistic investigations are pending in the ethnic groups of Guarayos, Toba Qom, Pai Tavytera and Maká. A couple from Brazil, Elizane and Fabio Cypriano, will initiate an Old Testament translation project in the Maká community. Letra Paraguay has established a partnership with Global Partnerships of Wycliffe USA to advance this vision and help complete the remaining work in Paraguay. Let us pray that:
- Letra Paraguay can successfully carry out these three investigations
- the Maká people will long to have the Old Testament in their language so that the faith of the believers will be strengthened, and
- the documents that the Cyprianos need to move to Paraguay can be completed soon and without difficulty.
12-year church partnership and engagement: Singapore, Indonesia
Covenant Presbyterian Church (CPC) Singapore celebrates 12 years of partnership with Wycliffe Singapore and translation projects for four language communities in Indonesia. From 2012-2017, CPC provided financial support for the BASERA cluster project. During a 2012 visit, church representatives were impressed with people’s eagerness to use Scriptures in churches, compose songs and participate in Scripture memory competitions. CPC has sent people annually to partner with local church leaders to implement creative Scripture engagement outreaches. The heart-language Scriptures have brought about spiritual revival and transformation in these communities.
From 2018-2024, CPC partnered with the Harum community who were translating the Bible into their language, Osing. CPC provided funding from 2018-2020 and also sent people to help conduct a pastors’ workshop, home visits and a children’s programme in this region. CPC continued to meet with and pray for the translation team online during the COVID years from 2020 to 2022 and witnessed spiritual revival among the Osing people.
- Pray for CPC to raise funding for Old Testament translation and Scripture engagement for the next phase of the Harum project.
- Pray for future team visits to partner with local churches in Scripture use.
- Pray that a new generation of young leaders will catch the vision for Bible translation.
Partnering with the church to recruit Bible translation workers: Africa
Wycliffe Africa was founded in 2004 by the late John Bendor-Samuel. Its mandate is to recruit mission workers to serve in the Bible translation movement from African countries that do not have an established Alliance organisation. Wycliffe Africa seeks to tap into the pool of Africans with a call to missions from the church in Africa which is experiencing explosive growth. Currently, Wycliffe Africa has 25 members drawn from across Africa. Praise God for the more than 35 language communities which have been impacted by those who serve with Wycliffe Africa, both in Africa and in other parts of the world.
- Pray for the implementation of a strategic plan and that it will yield great fruit on behalf of Bible translation movements.
- Pray for strength and wisdom for translators and consultants in their work and for the long-term sustainability of programmes so that they meet both spiritual and physical needs.
Joining the Bible translation movement through prayer: Switzerland
When Vision 2025 was initiated, organisations were encouraged to increase their prayer efforts because it was clear that without God’s intervention, the vision could never be reached. As a result, Wycliffe Switzerland began praying for a prayer coordinator. After a few years, they found someone for this new role. In 2003, they began a prayer initiative, inviting Christians around Switzerland to “adopt” one of four Bibleless people groups in prayer. Over time, the number of adopted people groups or projects (some of which are cluster projects) was increased to 30. Today, over 400 individuals, as well as 13 churches and 35 prayer groups are praying for one or more of these Bibleless people groups. Praise God for all these people who have joined Bible translation movements through prayer!
