Weekly Prayer

Weekly Prayer 12 April 2020

Sister Chevene Cadogan offers the Weekly Prayer for 12 April 2020.

Brothers, Sisters and Friends,

We pray that you are doing well. However, if you or someone else is in need of prayer, counselling or other forms of support, we encourage you to let us know. We also remember those among us who are mourning, sick, lost jobs or faced with reduced job hours, lost business or faced with reduction in business, and those who have family members overseas. So we ask for God’s peace, protection, provision, comfort and favour as each person processes his/her experience.

Therefore, as we try to understand what is happening, let us reflect on the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. May God empower us to celebrate His sovereignty. Our Saviour was raised from the dead. The grave is empty. He showed the world that He has the victory over death, hell and the grave. We may be locked down but not silenced, so we rejoice and lift our voices in praise and thanksgiving to our Lord, Saviour and King.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Jesus Christ is alive!

Let us now look to the Lord in prayer

Almighty God, we come before You in the name of Jesus with praise in our hearts. For all that You have done and continue to do for us, O’ God, we praise You from our spaces, and acknowledge Your mighty heavens. We praise You for Your acts of power and surpassing greatness O’ God. Lord, with everything we have we praise You, O’ God. Let us rejoice in You always. You are God and God alone. We thank You for Your faithfulness, Your everlasting kindness and mercy that You show towards us Your children.

Dear God, in this trying time of COVID 19 that the entire world is experiencing, Lord, let us turn to You and seek Your face O’ God. Your face Lord we seek. Hear our voices when we call out to You O’ God. Let us come before You and confess our sins. We have sinned against You dear Lord in our actions, thoughts and deeds. We beg Your forgiveness dear Father, so have mercy on us in accordance with Your loving kindness. Listen to our pleas dear Father, we are crying out for deliverance.

Lord, You say to us in Your word; “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sins and heal their land,” (2 Chronicles 7:1, NIV). Heal the nations of this world dear Father. You are in control and there is no other to help us.

Dear Heavenly Father, as we wait for your healing hand, we ask for Your protection for the front line workers, the doctors and nurses who are battling this plague. Cover them with the blood of Jesus dear God. They are currently facing so much anxiety, anguish and stress. In an effort to protect family members, many of them are separated from their families. Their children, spouses and other family members are going through their own sufferings as well. May we as a people show appreciation and kindness to these workers for their hard work and sacrifice. Many of these front line workers are also single parents dear Lord and their children need them at this time more than ever. Lord, I ask for your comfort and strength for these workers and their families in this time of crisis, Lord. Provide for them Lord. You alone know their needs.

O’ God we look to you for deliverance. You alone God are our rock and shield. In You we take rest and comfort. Help us O ’God to be kind and caring in this time. Let us reach out to those persons who are in need dear Father and to those persons who are experiencing undue anxiety and stress in this time.

Our God and Father, this weekend we celebrate the crucifixion and resurrection of Your Son Jesus Christ. It is through the crucifixion that Jesus took on the sins of the world. It is by His sacrifice that we are able to come to the throne of grace and seek forgiveness for our sins.

By Your power You were able to resurrect Jesus’ body from the grave. That is the same resurrection power we can call on today God. In our despair, anxiety and pain we call to You dear Lord. Hear our cry and save us, in the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, we pray with thanksgiving, amen.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, amen! Hallelujah!

Shalom, Shalom
