The verse of the day:
GMC acquired the adjoining property in the early 1980’s and a multipurpose basketball court was established. A Sports Ministry administers and supervises several tournaments for young boys and men who use the facility. Inter church competitions saw well skilled teams from the corporate area of Kingston and St. Andrew vying for many prizes.
The use of the courts is temporarily suspended as a re-organization exercise takes place.
Starting in the year 1999, GMC has hosted an annual health fair where men and women from surrounding communities are given free medical and dental care through a cadre of very professional and caring doctors and dentists who volunteer their services. Teams from the cancer society also attend and offer mammograms and pap smears at a nominal cost. Medications are dispensed free in partnership with a number of pharmaceutical companies.
GMC provides books, clothes and tuition for a number of children annually through its Benevolent Fund. There is a Mentorship Program where members supervise youngsters in Christian living, demonstrating in a practical way the Christian brotherhood. Vacation Bible school is usually held for two weeks every summer. Children are taught various skills including art and crafts, as well as a sound knowledge of the Bible. Refreshments are provided free and children are encouraged to bring friends who do not attend GMC.
GMC has expanded its counselling program with the addition of seven (7) trained counselors. These members volunteer their services on demand. Now a wider cross-section of advice can be obtained in a timely fashion. Pre-marital, behavioural, dispute resolution.
