Leadership
One way the Wycliffe Global Alliance serves Bible translation movements is by nurturing current and future leaders. Through forums, coaching, mentoring and encouragement, we provide them opportunities to learn and grow as servant leaders. Leaders need our support and prayers to discern how God is leading their organisations in times of great change.
Each Alliance organisation needs godly men and women to lead and discern in how to engage with God, with the church, and with partner organisations in the Bible translation movement. Thank the Lord for all who have courageously led in the past year. Pray for those being trained and prepared for leadership, and for those transitioning into and out of leadership roles. May each leader, leadership team and board know the equipping, anointing and gifting of the Holy Spirit.

Shared levels of leadership: Central Africa Republic
ACATBA‘s leadership has various levels, from the General Assembly to the Board of Governors to the Executive Director and his team. The General Assembly provides leadership and decision-making for the Board and Executive Director. Pray that the Lord will continue to inspire the decisions of the members of the ACATBA General Assembly and that he will guide the Board of Governors in the governance of ACATBA. The Director leads the work with four directors under his supervision. Pray for harmonious and collaborative work between all levels of ACATBA leadership. Pray that this harmony will extend to the various coordinators serving under the Executive Director’s leadership team.
Guidance for leaders, roles that need to be filled: Papua New Guinea
Papua New Guinea Bible Translation Association (PNGBTA) asks for prayers for their board and a recent leadership change. The PNGBTA Board met in August. Pray for ongoing wisdom and direction in their decisions. Ask God also to cover their families with peace and protection. The Manus Regional Area Program Manager handover service took place 23-24 August. Pray that all language programmes in the region will unite in support and collaboration with Thomas Pohonum, the new area program manager. Ask God also to call and equip people to fill key roles that are still vacant:
- Language Services Director
- Finance Officer
- Area Program Managers for the Oro and Morobe regions.

Discerning strategies: France
Wycliffe France continues to reorganise its activity and internal procedures for greater efficiency. Leaders of Wycliffe France seek to adopt effective strategies in the coming year in order to relaunch activities well and enable Wycliffe France to be financially self-sufficient, in order to continue their involvement in the work of translation. Pray for wisdom, knowing that it’s not always easy to discern and agree on the best strategies.
Leadership training and church planting: Peru
From 3-5 April, AIDIA held a discipleship training session on ‘Understanding the Christian Faith’ in Abancay for a group of 35 Quechua leaders. The goal is to equip them to teach in homes and support the planting of new churches. AIDIA´s facilitators assist the group of leaders receiving training. Some 42 home Bible study groups are meeting, and at least three new ones have been started recently. Some communities have churches, some not yet. Pray for the leaders who are being trained to teach people to study the Bible in Quechua and for each study group and church. Pray that many Quechua people would be strengthened in their faith and be able to share God’s Word with others in their communities. Pray that more churches will be started as a result of the spread of the Scriptures.

Coordinating year-end activities: Wycliffe Taiwan
The end of the year is Wycliffe Taiwan’s busiest season, involving:
- Board elections
- Annual members meeting
- Planning and budgeting for the upcoming year
- A field visit
- The potential addition of new members
Pray for God’s grace, strength and clear guidance as the leadership team navigates this packed season. Ask for wisdom, unity and smooth coordination in every area.

Teambuilding and setting strategy: Netherlands
- Wycliffe Netherlands recently had some changes in its leadership team. Praise God for the positions that have been filled. Pray for the team as they look forward to good collaboration and teambuilding in the months ahead.
- Thank God for the staff’s interesting and participative process of defining the organisation’s new multi-annual strategy. Pray for wisdom and courage to work with this strategy in the coming years.
- Pray for God’s blessing in leading a growing organisation.
Cross-organisational partnerships and member support: Japan
Thank God that a new Wycliffe Japan member has arrived safely in Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea (PNG), and has begun the PNG Orientation Course. After the course, she will serve with SIL-PNG as a Scripture Engagement specialist. Praise God that Josh Matsumaru, Executive Director of Wycliffe Japan, visited PNG to provide member care and support. He also had productive conversations with SIL-PNG leadership regarding future opportunities for collaboration. Praise God for the value Wycliffe Japan places on supporting and encouraging its workers. Pray for God’s leading in this current partnership and future opportunities.
