Streams of Prayer for 15 April 2025

The Streams of Prayer for 15 April 2025 is a circular from the Wycliffe Global Alliance. Wycliffe Caribbean makes this available.

April 13, 2025 – April 19, 2025

Generosity, Funding and Specialty Services

As we serve together in community within global Bible translation movements, we seek to show each other love, respect and honour. Through recognising interdependence and interconnectedness, we seek an environment where all Alliance organisations (AOs) are free to give generously and receive graciously.

Giving takes many forms, such as providing time, staff, financial assistance, expertise or consulting. Through the Specialty Services Participation Stream, one AO may provide practical help or consultation services to another AO in areas such as finance, technology, administration, organisational development, partnerships or human resources.

We affirm each other for who we are and not for the type or quantity of the contribution. Our primary goal is to glorify God together in Bible translation.

Celebrating faithful giving through legacy gifts: UK, Global

Wycliffe UK gives thanks for those who have chosen to leave a legacy gift in their wills for Bible translation. These acts of generosity have made a significant impact, enabling one in every 10 new language programmes to begin. A legacy supporter recently said, ‘When I was a teenager, somebody from Wycliffe gave a talk in my church. Now I want everyone to have a Bible in their mother tongue.” Pray that these generous gifts will continue to bless individuals, families and entire communities through God’s translated Word for generations to come. Pray for Wycliffe’s church speakers across the UK, that they will continue to inspire new generations to consider how their lives—and legacies—can play a part in Bible translation.

Praise God for dedications of two New Testaments in Cameroon on 29 March: Bakweri in the Southwest Region and Nulibié in Balamba, Centre Region. The New Testament in the Nulibié language is the first Bible printed in Cameroon by CABTAL. Thank God for this opportunity for CABTAL to print the Scriptures in Cameroon. Praise Him for provision of the printing equipment, facility and staff. Praise God for His Word available in both print and audio versions in Bakweri and Nulibié. The thirst for God’s Word is evident in each of these communities. Please pray for:

  • People’s lives in the Bakweri and Nulibié communities to be transformed by God’s Word;
  • Effective distribution of the New Testaments;
  • Strong mobilisation of communities and church leaders for the continuation of literacy classes so they can engage with Scriptures for their transformation; and
  • Financial provision for the construction of a translation centre in Balamba and the effective running of the centre in Bakweri.

New IT workers for the Pacific: Timor-Leste, Papua New Guinea

A shortage of expatriate SIL cross-cultural workers in Papua New Guinea (PNG) has made it difficult to maintain the needed level of translation services, especially in IT. God has answered prayers with the addition of IT cohorts James in Timor-Leste and Jeremy and Toros in PNG. Mentored by Seed Company Field Technology Specialist Myles, who resides in Japan, the four men met in 2024 at a workshop in Ukarumpa, PNG. They gathered again in Ukarumpa for another workshop and more training.

  • Praise God for his provision of James, Jermay and Toros to help facilitate Bible translation in PNG.
  • Pray that all three new IT workers will be able to apply well what they learned and be encouraged from their time together.

Inspiring involvement, raising funds for translation: Kenya

Thank God for the 18th edition of Run For The Bibleless that took place on 15 March in three locations: Nairobi, Nakuru and Eldoret. This annual event raises awareness and funding for Bible translation in Kenya and beyond. Praise God that this special event included participation of corporate organisations, educational Institutions, churches and individuals who came out in large numbers to support the initiative with about 23,000 participants. Pray that many will be inspired to get involved in Bible translation as a result, and ask God to bless the projects that will be funded.

Much to be thankful for: Perú

Jenner and Rosalba Valdivia, Bible translation workers serving in Peru, thank God for the support from members of their sending churches in El Salvador and Peru. They are grateful for the prayers and financial gifts that allow them to continue serving in the Lambayeque Quechua Bible translation project as well as the Bible translation Basic Course programme. Thank God with them for his faithfulness, strength and guidance in this work. They thank God also for the donations of people who made possible the printing of 500 calendars in Quechua that have been distributed in churches in Incahuasi and Cañaris. Praise God for his provision on behalf of the Lambayeque Quechua people.

A place of fellowship for the Deaf: Romania

Occasionally, Wycliffe Romania receives requests to help Deaf communities there. In many parts of the country, there are no Christian groups where Deaf people can join. They want meeting places where they can have fellowship specific to their culture, communicate in Romanian sign language and have the gospel preached in their own language. One hearing person who participated in a presentation of the Bible translation project for the Deaf in Romania expressed her desire that her Deaf parents could be part of a Christian group in their town.

Please pray that:

  • Hearing churches will understand the need, help partner with Deaf pastors and provide spaces where Deaf groups can meet.
  • God will raise up devoted Deaf people to start these groups.
  • God will train interpreters to facilitate communication and relationships between the Deaf and hearing churches that could serve as hosts for meetings.

Mission aviation, a crucial special service: Indonesia

Praise God for the YAJASI aviation ministry, which serves many who work in Bible translation movements in Indonesia. Pray for:

  • Preparation of all necessary documents for the procurement process of the second Caravan aircraft;
  •  Funding to purchase one more aircraft for YAJASI’s aviation ministry;
  • Continued ability to provide subsidised (lower) rates to partners who need aviation services (Bible translators, mission organisations and churches), and still cover operational costs;
  • The pilots and maintenance staff as they work on updating the YAJASI Operation Manual to be ready by the government deadline in April; and
  • YAJASI ‘s overall operations to run safely and smoothly under God’s protection.
