Bible Translation Programmes
Wycliffe Global Alliance serves Bible translation movements because we long for language communities to encounter God through His Word. As written in the Alliance Foundational Statements, one of our core values is “trusting God to transform lives through His Word translated into the languages and cultures of the world’s peoples”.
We will pray for Bible translation efforts around the world and specific ways that Alliance organisations participate in the Bible Translation Programmes participation stream. We will also celebrate lives changed through Scripture and pray that many more communities will be powerfully impacted as they encounter God through the Bible translated into the language they understand best.

Four aspects of translation involvement: Taiwan
Wycliffe Taiwan requests prayer for:
- Participation in July Campus Mission Youth Convention. Pray that all aspects—from booth setup and interactive games to the delivery of thematic messages—will be well-prepared, and that young people will be inspired to participate in God’s mission.
- Development of new ministries. Ask for the Lord’s guidance as Wycliffe Taiwan explores and develops new ministries. May he move people’s hearts to join the mission movement, walking in step with him.
- Strengthening international partnerships. Pray for deepening collaborations with mission networks and partner organisations to open new fields of service and recruit new workers, responding in unity to God’s calling.
Bible translation in Taiwan. Pray for steady progress in translating the Bible into Taiwan’s indigenous languages – including Saisiyat, Kavalan, and Siraya – and for needed personnel and resources.
Celebrating progress in translation: Ethiopia
Wycliffe Ethiopia has translated Scripture into more than 34 languages, including Zay, Enor, Mohr, Indegagne, East Nuer, Kara, Tsaara, Kuwegu, Nara, Sana’ani, Suri Kachipo, Bale, Guama and Seze. Pray that the Scriptures will transform the lives of people in these communities. Praise God for the Zay New Testament that was dedicated on June 15. Thank him also for the Enor, Mursi and Tsaara New Testaments that have been completed and are ready for publication. Pray for literacy and Scripture engagement efforts (including trauma healing, the JESUS film, evangelism and children’s ministry). Pray for peace in Ethiopia, needed translators and an end to conflicts within some language communities that hinder the work.
Bible translation and literacy deepen faith in many: Democratic Republic of Congo, Canada
Wycliffe Canada partners with passionate Bali and Mba-speaking Christians in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to support Bible translation and literacy. Bali Scripture is already making an impact. One evangelist mentioned how reading God’s Word in his language helps him understand it better. Lives are changing as people grow in faith and apply biblical truths. A recent workshop focused on revising translated Scripture. Lambert, a new editor, expressed gratitude for the opportunity, saying it deepened his Christian walk. Evangelists, deacons, and choir leaders are now using Bali Scriptures to share the gospel, leading to increased church attendance—including one congregation that doubled in size. Young Christians are showing renewed vision and purpose. Praise God for how the Bali and Mba communities are growing in faith through the translated Word. Pray for continued unity in translation, the spread of God’s Word, and peace and safety in eastern DRC.
Old Testament translation: Asia
Wycliffe Singapore partners with the Harum translation project in Asia. The New Testament was completed in 2024, and the team is translating the Old Testament. Please pray:
- For wisdom for the translation team as they revise Exodus and Numbers.
- For Harum believers to grow in their faith through Scripture engagement activities.
- That more Harum people will be open to hearing the gospel and to studying the Bible together with the Harum team.
That God’s Word will be planted and grow in the heart of every child who comes to read books in the library at the project managers’ home.
Old Testament translation underway: Brazil
The Dako* people live on rivers in south-central Amazonas. ALEM and those involved on the team ask prayers for:
- Completion of the consultant check for Joshua 14-24 (scheduled for late 2025).
- Reviews of back-translations for Haggai, Habakkuk and Nahum, so that the consultant check for these books can be done together with Joshua.
- Health, finances and spiritual well-being of project facilitators Rogério and Aura.
- A growing, impactful church among the ‘Dako people.
- The ‘Dako translator working on the back-translation of Genesis, and community helpers.
- ·Safety, wisdom and provision for team members as they travel.

Gospel of Luke dedicated in three languages: Indonesia
Thank God for the dedication of Luke in three languages of the Irau Cluster project in North Kalimantan at the end of May—Sa’ban, Lengilo’, and Merap. Pray that the churches and the communities of Sa’ban, Lengilo’, and Merap will be encouraged to use the available translated Scripture, and that understanding God’s Word will bring true change in their lives. Pray for the Scripture use programmes. Pray for a smooth editing process of the JESUS Film into these three languages, so that it can be used effectively to share the gospel.
Scripture translation begins in remote region: Colombia, Brazil
The U’wa people live in the mountains of Colombia and are divided into two groups with distinct languages: Western U’wa and Central U’wa. There are New and Old Testament stories translated into Central U’wa, but there is not a single verse in Western U’wa. In April, the Lord opened doors to initiate a project in partnership with ALEM to translate a Bible summary with oral stories. However, logistical difficulties are still an obstacle. There is a lack of electricity, cellular signal, good roads, permits to access the villages and a quiet place to work. Political opposition is another threat. Praise God that the work has begun. Pray for the unity, health and safety of the team; for wisdom in the translation of the biblical narratives and that these Scripture materials will be a blessing to the Western U’wa community.
