Church
As an Alliance, we believe that the purpose of the local church is to glorify God through participation in his mission: drawing people to Christ and making disciples. All who are part of the Alliance have the opportunity to serve the church and complement its ministry as we collaborate in Bible translation movements. (See Statements regarding Wycliffe Global Alliance’s relationship with the church.)
We also seek to listen to and learn from churches worldwide in order to build strong relationships for mutual encouragement and equipping. Together, we seek to encourage the meaningful, unique and complementary roles in God’s mission that he leads each church and organisation to fulfil. Join us as we pray for Alliance organisations engaged in the Church Participation Stream and for the worldwide church as it participates in Bible translation movements.

Scripture materials provided to churches: Central African Republic
The Association Centrafricaine pour la Traduction de la Bible et l’Alphabétisation (ACATBA) is the daughter of evangelical churches in the Central African Republic. This can be seen in the life of the organisation. Many churches are showing their support for ACATBA and Bible translation programmes through the provision of offerings, office spaces, volunteer staff, prayer support and participation in literacy programmes and Scripture engagement strategies. Pray for more churches to catch the vision for involvement in Bible translation. ACATBA receives requests from churches for Scripture materials in local languages.
Pray that:
- The Lord will inspire more churches to join in the Bible translation movements in the Central African Republic.
- The Holy Spirit will animate the links between churches and translation programmes
- Translation materials produced by projects and made available to churches will create a transforming impact on communities.
- God will provide for the economic needs of the churches and the activities to be carried out by ACATBA in church relations.

A Church on the Move: Americas
From 22-25 April, 1,600 participants gathered in Panama for the fifth Congress of COMIBAM (Cooperación Misionera Iberoamericana). The slogan for the conference was ‘The same mission for a church on the move’. Much of the content affirmed the place of the church in God’s mission, including the indigenous church. Staff of Wycliffe Global Alliance Americas Area engaged in a wide variety of conversations with people they relate to through the Alliance and the national Bible translation roundtables. Eighteen Alliance organisations were represented: Letra Argentina, Letra Paraguay, Seed Company, COMUNIFE, PAAM, FAM Guatemala, Wycliffe Caribbean, Wycliffe USA, FCBH, LAMM, ACYM, CONPLEI, APMT, ALEM, Iglesia Bautista Miramonte, Fronteras, Movida and PMI. As part of the Bible Translation and Collaboration strategic working groups, Alliance staff had the opportunity to present their work. Also, the Latin American Bible Translation Table

interacted with attendees, providing Bible translation information through the exhibition area, made up of six booths with the participation of the Wycliffe Global Alliance, JESUS Film, Wycliffe USA, SIL Global, JAARS and CILTA. The booths were developed in collaboration to emphasise engagement through dialogue, respect and recognition of each organisation’s uniqueness. Praise the Lord for this strong exhibition of unity and promotion of what it means to work together.

Catching the vision for Bible translation: Singapore
Join Wycliffe Singapore to praise God for the volunteers and potential members who are considering joining the work of Bible translation. Pray that the churches that stand behind them will see the important role they play as they partner with Wycliffe Singapore in sending, nurturing and encouraging these translation workers. Ask God to give wisdom to Wycliffe Singapore as they work in partnership with churches for the language projects. Pray that more Singapore churches will catch the vision for seeing God’s Word translated into the heart languages of people around the world.
Engaging the church: Malaysia
Wycliffe Malaysia’s mission is to partner with churches to make disciples by translating God’s Word into the languages people understand best so that their lives may be transformed.
- Pray for open doors to tell churches about Bible translation. As Wycliffe Malaysia’s staff members invite pastors and church leaders to partner with them, may God open doors for them to serve churches through various mission programmes.
- Pray as churches become more aware of the need for God’s Word in people’s heart languages, that they will financially support the local Bible translation projects.
- Pray for churches to send their leaders to be trained to use the translated Scriptures for evangelism and discipleship.
Serving local churches through Scripture engagement: South Africa

Wycliffe South Africa is thankful for being able to serve local churches, not only where the translation projects are located, but also around the country. Praise God for the recent oral Bible storytelling workshop, held in a church located in the second-largest township in Johannesburg. Thank God for its great impact on leaders. Thank God that it opened doors for their further commitment to missions. Other local churches participate in Scripture engagement initiatives. Pray for Helen, who leads Wycliffe South Africa’s Scripture engagement department, and Busani M., who engages with local churches in Johannesburg. This is opening doors to a number of denominations, making them aware of the need for Bible translation. Thank God for the Run for the Bibleless, inspired by the race in Kenya. The run in South Africa took place in March and was a fantastic way of raising awareness for Bible translation.

Praises and prayers for churches: Netherlands
Wycliffe Netherlands praises God for support from churches to contribute to their ministry, whether through prayer or offerings or supporting staff working in the field. Pray for unity among churches in the Netherlands, and that they will be motivated to connect with churches globally and support them with what God has given them to share. Pray that churches will be open to learn from each other through Bible translation movements, and get inspired by stories of spreading the gospel.
Churches participate in mission aviation: Indonesia
Praise God that the aviation ministry Yajasi in Indonesia has built relationships with several church denominations. Pray for continued good relationships and that Yajasi staff can meet with various church denominations to increase awareness of their vision and mission. Pray that as an aviation ministry, they can continue to provide subsidies to their partners: Bible translators, mission agencies and churches. Pray for fundraising efforts to acquire one more Caravan aircraft. Praise God that pilots and maintenance staff completed a required update of the Yajasi operation manual.
