Streams of Prayer for 22 April 2025

The Streams of Prayer for 22 April 2025 is a circular from the Wycliffe Global Alliance. Wycliffe Caribbean makes this available.

April 20, 2025 – April 26, 2025

Generosity, Funding and Specialty Services

As we serve together in community within global Bible translation movements, we seek to show each other love, respect and honour. Through recognising interdependence and interconnectedness, we seek an environment where all Alliance organisations (AOs) are free to give generously and receive graciously.

Giving takes many forms, such as providing time, staff, financial assistance, expertise or consulting. Through the Specialty Services Participation Stream, one AO may provide practical help or consultation services to another AO in areas such as finance, technology, administration, organisational development, partnerships or human resources.

We affirm each other for who we are and not for the type or quantity of the contribution. Our primary goal is to glorify God together in Bible translation.

Biennial General Meeting Preparations: Papua New Guinea

Papua New Guinea Bible Translation Association (PNGBTA) will hold the Biennial General Meeting from 18-22 April in Ukarumpa. About 70 to 150 staff members and translators are expected to attend. Apart from devotions, presentation of reports and discussion, board members will be elected. Pray for:

  • Safe travels and good health.
  • A quorum of attendees to make important decisions.
  • Strength for the directors and managers presenting reports and staff as they coordinate logistics.
  • New people to serve as board members as some will be completing their terms of service.
  • God’s leading and guidance in all details of the meeting. Pray that God will be glorified and His presence felt throughout the programme.

Generosity in various aspects: Central African Republic

The Association Centrafricaine pour la Traduction de la Bible et l’Alphabétisation (ACATBA) enjoys the support of churches, communities and partners. This generosity is shown in particular through the times of prayer devoted to Bible translation programmes, the offerings organised, the recommendations of workers and the provision of facilities to host training courses and translation teams. In return, ACATBA generously offers churches and communities various training courses, such as for printing services, chaplaincy and various aspects of Scripture engagement, mostly trauma healing workshops. With other external partners, ACATBA benefits from financial support and the contribution of consultants and equipment for translation programmes. Thank God for all this interaction and for the local churches that organise special offerings and donations of materials. Pray that all this will contribute to a greater impact in the work of Bible translation in the country.

Generosity and Commitment: Paraguay

This year LETRA Paraguay has launched a fundraising campaign to meet the needs of the organisation and strengthen the various translation projects. Derlis and Milca Cáceres, a young married couple committed to the vision of LETRA Paraguay, work through connections with friends, family and evangelical churches, sharing the mission of the organisation and the profound need of ethnic groups both in Paraguay and around the world for access to the Bible in their own languages. Although the challenges are great, the organisation trusts that God will lead them to the people he has already prepared to support this work with generosity and commitment. Praise God for his provision through those who have already committed themselves to this beautiful work. Pray that he will guide Derlis and Milca in their decisions regarding this service. Pray that God will bless those who give financially and that they will remain firm in their commitments.

A holistic approach to generosity: Burkina Faso

Since 2008, the Association Nationale pour la Traduction de la Bible et l’Alphabétisation (ANTBA) has assisted with a savings programme for people in local communities with which they serve. This approach, set up by the Strømme Foundation, incorporates a holistic approach to the gospel as a strategy to fight poverty. Praise God that through this collaboration, ANTBA is helping many people improve their economic status. One married woman with 11 children became a member of one of the 75 savings and credit groups created in 2024. From her savings, she has been able to set up an income-generating business selling traditional loincloths. She makes a little profit and cares for her family. Thank God for allowing ANTBA to participate in this initiative to bring practical assistance to people in the communities they serve.

Giving that lasts: UK, Chad

Wycliffe UK gives thanks for a generous legacy donation through someone’s will that is supporting Bible translation work for 11 languages in Chad’s Guera region. Pray that this funding enables teams in the Guera region to continue making great progress on the New Testament, allowing each of these language communities to access God’s Word in a language they understand best. Such faithful legacy giving continues to play a role in Bible translation around the world. Pray that examples like this inspire others to invest in God’s mission in ways that will outlast them.

A water factory for local income: Nigeria

Thank God for his wisdom upon the leadership of the Nigeria Bible Translation Trust (NBTT). The organisation takes interesting steps toward sustainable ventures to support Bible translation efforts. Significant efforts have continually been made to raise funds locally. Praise God for the recent establishment of a sachet water factory by NBTT. This project responds to a need in the country. The factory is awaiting approval from the national regulatory body (NAFDAC). Pray for this approval and for God’s favour on this venture. Pray that it will become a significant source of financial blessing, advancing Bible translation in Nigeria’s minority languages. Pray for the plans to recruit workers in this factory, that God will select people he has already prepared and that he will bless them all with faithfulness. Pray for widespread acceptance of the product. Ask God to inspire NBTT leadership with other projects to his glory.

Finances for new workers: Hungary

Three new members are joining Wycliffe Hungary to serve in Bible translation ministry. They’ve done fundraising training and are ready to build their prayer and financial partner teams. Thank God for their willingness to serve. Pray for them to find the people God has already prepared to partner with them in their ministries. Pray for perseverance to stay on the path God has shown to them and wisdom for Wycliffe Hungary staff to encourage them and come alongside in this journey.
