Bible Translation Programmes
Wycliffe Global Alliance serves Bible translation movements because we long for language communities to encounter God through His Word. One of the Alliance’s core values is “trusting God to transform lives through His Word translated into the languages and cultures of the world’s peoples”.
We will pray for Bible translation efforts around the world and specific ways that Alliance organisations participate in the Bible Translation Programmes participation stream. We will also celebrate lives changed through Scripture and pray that many more communities will be powerfully impacted as they encounter God through the Bible translated into the languages they understand best.

Changing focus, changing priorities: France
Like many other organisations in the Wycliffe Global Alliance, Wycliffe France is convinced of the importance of sign language translation and has decided to make it a major focus of its support for translation programmes over the next few years. Pray that the Lord will help staff to take these steps in partnership with Deaf people and to be able to raise awareness of this issue in churches.
Many projects, much impact: Philippines

Wycliffe Philippines asks praise and prayer for the following projects:
- Praise God for the success of the first Calinga San Mariano Scripture engagement activities and team check in September. Pray for the consultant check in October. Ask God to soften the heart of one translator’s husband, that he will believe in the Lord and allow her to take part in the translation work.
- Pray for unity among local partners in the Kabalikat Cluster project, and for protection and safe travel of team members preparing for a consultant check and recording.
- Pray for good motivation, commitment and joy for Ata team members, completion of the translation office, and unity and transparency of community leaders.
- Praise God for the completion of the Balangao New Testament revision in August. Pray for the final review in preparation for audio recording, and for the approval of continuation of the Old Testament project.
Pray for each team as they serve faithfully. Pray that God’s Word will bring transformation in each community.
Translation checking and Scripture engagement: Taiwan
The Siraya Gospel of Mark will be checked from 24–29 November, in the Siraya homeland in Tainan, with eight participants. Pray for:
- Thorough and smooth preparations;
- A fruitful checking process that ensures accuracy and clarity;
- God’s presence to guide each participant and bring the Gospel of Mark closer to completion for the Siraya community.
A team from Wycliffe Taiwan will visit ministry partners serving refugees from 29 October 29 to 2 November. Pray for:
- Safe travels and meaningful connections;
- God’s blessing over ministries in Scripture engagement, translation, medical care, trauma healing and community development;
- Encouragement and renewed vision for all partners involved.
Oral translation project: Malaysia
In advance of a November “Taster Workshop” for the Jakun oral Bible translation project, Wycliffe Malaysia leaders ask for prayer that:
- More Jakun participants will willingly join and catch the vision as potential translators, orality discipleship leaders and community checkers.
- God will provide journey mercies and safe travels for both trainers and participants as they travel to Kuantan.
- God will open doors for more Jakun villages to know about and become involved in the project.
- God will provide everything that they need in the workshop.

Various approaches to serve communities: Burkina Faso
Since 1992, ANTBA (National Association for Bible translation and literacy) has been involved in translating the Bible into Burkina Faso’s minority languages. Give thanks for the 12 Bible translation programmes that have already been completed, with 11 New Testaments and one complete Bible dedicated. Pray for continued progress of the 24 Bible translation programmes underway, including one a sign language project, 10 in oral translations, seven Old Testament translations é) and four New Testament translations. Pray for a good celebration and dedication of the New Testaments in the Bissa Barka and Djan languages in November and December, respectively. Pray for peace and security so that the mission of translation can be better carried out in the country.

Launching a revision to reach new generations: Democratic Republic of Congo, Canada
Wycliffe Canada will partner with The Lingala Equateur ya Sika project in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which aims to translate the full Bible in three years for about 10 million people who speak this variety of the Lingala language. The three translations already available are over 40 years old and the language has changed considerably. Local church leaders will use Adapt It, a free, open-source translation editor that will help to more quickly craft a new translation draft based on those earlier versions. A local Christian university plans to include revision of the translation as a practicum in its curriculum, a creative way to engage the younger generation in translation efforts! Please pray to help get this initiative started. Ask God to provide wisdom, workers and resources for this updated translation that will be distributed in both audio and print formats.
Activities that complement translation: Ghana
The Ghana Institute of Linguistics, Literacy and Bible Translation (GILLBT) serves 47 language programmes. Apart from the translation itself, there are several efforts to engage people with the translated Scriptures; the Scripture Engagement office is instrumental in that effort. They provide Scripture Engagement workshops and training, Literacy for Life workshops, implement audio strategy with Faith Comes by Hearing and more. Thank God that all these programmes are funded. Pray for other strategies to support translation and other GILLBT activities financially. Such programmes are: Children in Bible translation, Bible conferences, special fundraising dinners and GILLBT Day of Prayer. Pray for continuous and effective collaboration between GILLBT and its partners. Pray for more impact through Scriptures in the communities, and for many people to come to know Christ and serve him.
