The Streams of Prayer for August 25, 2025, is a circular from the Wycliffe Global Alliance. Wycliffe Caribbean makes this available.
August 24, 2025 – August 30, 2025
Dear Prayer Partner,
Warm Christian Greetings.
“Then I saw another angel, flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people.”
Revelation 14:6
Thank you for your ongoing partnership in praying for the work of Bible translation.
Training
Many people with various areas of expertise are needed to translate the Bible in a clear, accurate and natural way. Training in Bible translation roles is therefore one of the seven Alliance Participation Streams. The skills are so important that many Alliance organisations regularly offer courses or training workshops, often collaborating with other organisations.
We will pray for those who are teaching, the students, and the organisations and institutions hosting these training programmes. We will ask God to provide instructors, administrative staff, finances, materials and equipment. Pray also for unity of purpose, excellent teaching and energy for learning, all of which result in well-equipped staff to serve in Bible translation movements. Pray too, that God will use these times of training to prepare them not only with more than technical skills, but also with spiritual and collaborative skills.

Committed to training: Central African Republic
ACATBA is committed to training its personnel and people in language communities. Academically, many of its leaders and staff are trained in theology, linguistics and human resources. Professionally, the skills of ACATBA staff are built and strengthened internally on aspects of Bible translation. Praise God for the contribution of SIL Global and ACATBA consultants and external experts in these training courses. ACATBA also organises various workshops on topics such as linguistics and community involvement. All these training courses equip ACATBA facilitators and community workers with the skills they need for their mission. Ask the Lord to help develop and qualify several ACATBA staff. Pray that the Lord will open up more opportunities and give more resources for training.
Pre-field training: Indonesia
In early 2025, 26 participants from various regions of Indonesia took part in a pre-field training—an intensive course designed to equip workers with skills, but also to refine their motivation and deepen their calling to serve in Bible translation and cross-cultural work. The four-week training served as an important first step for prospective facilitators and ministry partners. Pray that:

- God would confirm the calling of each participant, giving them steadfast hearts and faithfulness to serve amid cross-cultural challenges.
- God will protect their life journeys and ministries—physically, mentally and spiritually—as well as provide guidance for each step.
- Participants will build healthy relationships with their teams, local communities and ministry partners, so that the work of God may be carried out in love and unity.
- Through their lives and service, God’s Word will become known, accepted, and transform many lives in people’s heart languages.
Standard Romani Bible translation project: Romania
Wycliffe Romania staff praise the Lord for the success of the first ‘The Word That Builds’ training event, attended by 40 people from Roma churches in Romania. Organised by the translation committee, the event took place from 5-7 June and sought to encourage Roma churches in Romania and beyond to engage with this initiative that encourages the use of Romani Scripture. During the training, participants studied the international Romani alphabet and worked through 10 Romani Bible study lessons. Many participants committed to using the Standard Romani Scriptures, along with the Bible study materials, in their churches.
- Pray for more partnering churches to join in this journey of translating the Bible into Standard Romani. Pray also for the influence of the churches that participated.
- Thank God for the unity of the translation team. God’s Word must be conveyed to the Roma using the most appropriate words and expressions. Pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance in choosing these words. May God bless the team with good health, wisdom and cooperation.
Training and mentoring a new generation of missionaries: Brazil

ALEM offers the Course of Linguistics and Missiology (CLM) to equip students to communicate the gospel within other cultures. Its comprehensive program provides tools for becoming an effective Bible translation worker, capable of bringing the message of Jesus Christ in a faithful and contextualised way. The CLM has been preparing Bible translators and educators to read the Bible for more than 40 years. Pray for new students, and for teachers able to not only teach, but also mentor, the new generation of cross-cultural workers. Pray also for the provision of finances and good health for students during the training.
Bible-based trauma healing training: Hong Kong
Wycliffe Hong Kong is developing the ‘Caring for the Wounded Heart’ healing ministry, aiming to help more individuals experience Bible-based trauma healing and receive God’s comfort. They have translated several materials into Chinese to facilitate this initiative. Over the past two months, they successfully conducted five different training sessions:
- 21 individuals participated in a virtual Cantonese ‘Caring for the Wounded Heart’ support group.
- 30 participated (both in-person and virtually) in an English ‘Caring for the Wounded Heart’ support group.
- 27 received training in the virtual Cantonese ‘Initial Training for Facilitators’ session.
- 7 received training in the English ‘Advanced Training for Facilitators’ session.
- 43 attended both the physical and virtual English ‘Strength from Weakness’ session.

Praise God for all the people who have received training. Pray that he will use their new skills to minister to others.
Mentoring for IT skills: Africa, Switzerland
Dominique Henchoz, a Wycliffe Switzerland member, is part of the Information Technology (IT) department for the Africa area, serving over 40 SIL and Alliance organisations. Dominique coordinates an IT mentoring programme. By offering IT professionals personalised support that is as close as possible to their real-life challenges, they aim to help them develop their skills and encourage their autonomy. Thank God that there are currently 20 mentoring pairs. Dominique asks for prayer for the motivation of mentors and mentees and for good relationships. Sometimes, letting the mentee take the initiative in the relationship can be culturally challenging. At other times, the workload can cause the mentoring relationship to take a back seat. Pray that all involved will adapt the use of this programme for themselves and their organisation, so that it can best meet their needs in their contexts.

Training to serve communities needing Scripture translation: Spain
PROEL asks for prayer that God will bring the students he wants to attend the next master’s degree programme in Applied Linguistics, Translation, and Literacy. The course runs from October 2025 to June 2026 at the University of León in Villablino, León, Spain. PROEL’s programme has been running since 2005, and is offered as a partnership with the university, SIL Global and the Sierra Pambley Foundation, an educational nonprofit. Previous students have come from 20 nations. Pray for the administrative staff and professors as they prepare for the training programme and assist students through the application process. Ask God to prepare students for this intensive, nine-month study programme, to provide the needed finances and to guide travel arrangements and other practical preparations. Pray that as a result of this training, they will be a blessing to the communities they serve through translation, literacy or linguistic work.
