Leadership at the global level
This week, we will pray for Alliance Executive Director Stephen Coertze and his leadership team as they seek to guide, inspire and encourage the Alliance community in order to fully embrace the future God has for the global Bible translation movement.

That they may be empowered by the love of God
Pray Ephesians 3:16-19 (NIV) for Alliance Executive Director Stephen Coertze and his leadership team. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.’ Ask God to fuel their leadership with his strength and love.
Listening well
An important Alliance value is to give each Alliance organisation an equal voice, regardless of history, size or financial resources. To do that, the Alliance crafts ‘third spaces’ of neutral ground with equal power distribution, where conversations can be held about our work and vision and how we collaborate and implement new ideas. As we seek together to step into new areas and push boundaries for the advancement of global Bible translation movements, pray that the Alliance leadership can continue to craft spaces that enable teams to listen to and learn well from each other.
Implementing changes in strategic directions
In this season, the board, executive director and Alliance leadership team are placing a special focus on seeking input from the Alliance community as a whole, regarding Alliance strategic direction. Pray for good communication, discernment and clarity. This is a part of our ongoing journey and, while community input is always a part of how we live and serve together, pray that this time of special focus will reveal new opportunities and allow even more voices to be heard.

Health, strength and energy
New directions inevitably lead to intense workloads. Pray that the Alliance staff members will keep their eyes on God as they serve in his mission. Ask for times of rest and refreshment. Pray for protection over their health and families and for strength and protection against discouragement. Pray that they will be excited and energised as they serve communities benefiting from Bible translation. Pray Isaiah 40:29-31 (NCV) for them:
“He gives strength to those who are tired, and more power to those who are weak.
Even children become tired and need to rest, and young people trip and fall. But the people who trust the Lord will become strong again. They will rise up as an eagle in the sky; they will run and not need rest; they will walk and not become tired”.

Unity
The Alliance is a community of more than 100 organisations. Each organisation is independent, with its own leadership structure and unique, God-given vision. These organisations are bound together by their desire to see individuals, communities and nations transformed by God’s love and Word. They are passionate about the role of the Bible in church planting, evangelism, discipleship and more. Wycliffe Global Alliance leaders seek ways to help these organisations work together—to learn, grow and develop in an interconnected way. Ask God to overwhelm staff in Alliance organisations with his love. Pray that his love would fill our motivation and planning as we seek to glorify God. Ask God to preserve and deepen the unity of the Alliance and the desire to learn and grow together in community.
Pray for workers
We praise God that he resources us for his mission. Many teams in the Global Alliance are short-staffed. Pray for these teams as we look to him to provide as he has in the past.
“Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field'”.
Matthew 9:37-38 (NIV)
Ask the Lord of the harvest to generously provide workers and to give his grace to staff who have extra responsibilities due to colleagues retiring or moving on.

By faith
Hebrews 11:1 reminds us, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” It also reminds us of all those “heroes of the faith” who trusted God even when they did not fully understand his plan. Pray for the whole Alliance community as we consider the future. Pray that God would help us to biblically reflect and discern his purposes, basing our faith on all that he has done in and through Bible translation movements. Ask him to help us, in faith, dream God-sized dreams for future plans and strategies.
