Bible Translation Programmes
Wycliffe Global Alliance serves Bible translation movements because we long for language communities to encounter God through His Word. One of the Alliance’s core values is “trusting God to transform lives through His Word translated into the languages and cultures of the world’s peoples.”
We will pray for Bible translation efforts around the world and for specific ways that Alliance organisations participate in the Bible Translation Programmes participation stream. We will also celebrate lives changed through Scripture and pray that many more communities will be powerfully impacted as they encounter God through the Bible translated into the languages they understand best.

Bringing change through translation: Togo
Wycliffe Togo is working in seven Bible translation programmes—four oral translation projects and three written translation projects. The work is progressing with the church, communities and various partners. Wycliffe Togo has helped make Luke, Mark and Acts available to churches in audio form. Thank God for intercession workshops and mobilisation of the church through round-tables and breakfasts that connect staff with church leaders. Pray for the Mampursi and Massedena communities to be reached with the gospel. The Mampursi are in the north of Togo and are only 3.5% Christian and 15% literate. Ask God to change these statistics through the Bible translation programmes. Pray for easy contact with the pastors and mission workers serving among these people and for their protection against radical religious groups. Ask the Lord to improve the living conditions of the Massedena people in the northeast part of the country.
The Bible in Eastern Apurimac Quechua: Peru
During the quarter ending in June 2025, dedications of the Bible in Eastern Apurímac Quechua were held in the communities of Raccaracay, Chuquibambilla (Grau), and Socco (Aymaraes), with participation by more than 800 people from local churches. It was a time of celebration and gratitude. After many years of waiting, the Quechua-speaking churches joyfully received the complete Bible in their language. The presentations and distribution of the Word of God will continue in the coming months so the Quechua communities may strengthen their faith while reading the Bible in their own language. Pray that local church members may use the Bible in Quechua, be strengthened in their faith, understand God’s Word clearly and be able to share it with others in their communities.
Cross-cultural workshop, church involvement, consultant: Singapore
Wycliffe Singapore shares the following prayer items:
- Praise God for a well-attended workshop that helped participants understand cross-cultural issues and encouraged them to apply such knowledge in their day-to-day interactions with others. Praise God for an online talk by a volunteer on how his experience in short-term trips has deepened his involvement in missions. This volunteer is preparing to head overseas for a two-year assignment. Pray for his church to give approval. Praise God for moving his people to reach across cultures.
- Give thanks for the many language projects that Wycliffe Singapore and Singapore churches can be a part of. May they have wisdom in cultivating the relationships and partnerships with churches.
- Praise God for a Singapore member who is now a consultant in training. Pray for his growth in his knowledge and skills, as well as his faith in the Lord’s continual provision for all that he and his family need.
Bible translation impact multiplies: Central African Republic
ACATBA (Central African Association for Bible Translation and Literacy) and churches in the Central African Republic (CAR) are coordinating the translation of the Old Testament into three languages—Bhianda, Bhokoto and Banda Linda—and the New Testament into 15 languages. These programmes also include literacy as one of their key components. There are three oral Bible translation programmes and also, ACATBA uses oral Bible storying as a strategy. Thank God for the impact of these Bible translation programmes in the churches and the country. Indeed, God’s Word translated into local languages has facilitated the growth of the church in CAR in both numbers and spiritual depth. Translation products include the JESUS film and other literature that churches use in evangelism. Thank God for the churches that are making good use of translated resources to sow transformation among individuals and communities throughout the country. Pray for the effective dedication of the New Testaments in Bhokoto, Banda Linda and M’piémo this year.
Deepening access to Scripture: Nigeria
Nigeria Bible Translation Trust (NBTT) is involved in a number of Bible translation programmes in the country and continues to make progress in advancing this work across Nigeria. Thank God for the literacy training for staff that resumed in August, after more than a decade. Presently, 46 mother tongue translators are scheduled to be trained in producing a beginning primer for their heart languages. In September, the leadership team, together with key stakeholders, completed a strategic planning workshop that will guide the organisation through 2031. Also, more than 40 language communities that previously had no writing system have been taught, sparking great excitement and renewed passion for the work. NBTT has equally secured a partnership for sign language translation and hopes to make progress soon. Pray that these initiatives will deepen access to Scripture and bring transformation to communities in their languages.
Standard Romani Bible translation: Romania
The Roma community joyfully welcomes God’s Word in their language and eagerly awaits having the complete Bible. The Standard Romani translation of Matthew 1-9 has been consultant checked and reviewed by native speakers in a community check.
- Pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance as translators seek to translate God’s Word accurately and clearly.
- Pray for two additional members training to join the translation team, that they can apply well what they learn about the translation process.
- The team continued visiting Roma churches. People were happy to receive the Romani translated portions of Scripture, with many even kissing the copies they were given. Pray for unity and cooperation with Roma churches across the country.
Two translations in progress: Papua New Guinea, Poland, Asia
Wycliffe Poland requests prayer for the translation of the Old Testament into the K language* in Asia. The team is now working on Exodus. In particular, pray for good online communication for the team during the translation process, as well as for strength and health for the elderly translators. Pray also for the Seimat translation project in Papua New Guinea. The needs are: the continued translation of the Old Testament (now Zechariah) and the health of the exegetical advisor.
