Bible Translation Programmes
Wycliffe Global Alliance serves Bible translation movements because we long for language communities to encounter God through His Word. One of the Alliance’s core values is “trusting God to transform lives through His Word translated into the languages and cultures of the world’s peoples”.
We will pray for Bible translation efforts around the world and specific ways that Alliance organisations participate in the Bible Translation Programmes participation stream. We will also celebrate lives changed through Scripture and pray that many more communities will be powerfully impacted as they encounter God through the Bible translated into the languages they understand best.

Need more orthography teachers: Indonesia
The Orthography Workshop in Gugus Baselo, West Kalimantan, starts 1 October. Pray for good coordination among everyone involved: teachers, facilitators, translators and the local host church. Pray also for more orthography teachers in Kartidaya, especially for the Serui Cluster, Papua, in 2026. A partnership is being explored with one of the orthography teachers from SIL Australia. Please pray that the coordination will run smoothly and that the need for teachers will be met.
Completed translation: Senegal, Norway
Praise God for the completion of the Saafi Scriptures, which includes Genesis, Exodus and the whole New Testament! The Bible books have been printed in the Netherlands in two different scripts, Roman and Ajami. As soon as the last copies arrive in Senegal, a date will be set for a dedication and celebration.
Please pray that:
- All printed versions, small and large, Roman and Ajami script, arrive safely in Senegal
- A celebration in the Saafi community will gather young and old and create curiosity and enthusiasm
- The Scripture use project led by two members of the translation team will succeed in promoting the Bible and leading people to faith
- Many from the Saafi people will become friends and followers of Jesus
- The gospel will transform Saafi communities with ripple effects all over Senegal.
Prayers for new partners, Scripture recordings, dedications and health: Philippines
- Pray for Translators Association of the Philippines (TAP) staff as they prepare the programme for an online event for Bible Translation Day on 30 September. They are asking God for 100 attendees who will become partners in the ministry of Bible translation.
- Pray that Faith Comes By Hearing (FCBH) can start the audio recording of the Kinamayu New Testament by November. Pray also for printing funds for the Gaddang and Ginsalugen New Testaments.
- Some New Testament dedications will take place next year. Pray for planning, scheduling decisions and good participation from the communities. Most of all, pray that God’s Word brings transformation.
- Pray for the Benefit Concert on 16 October to raise funds to help cover medical costs for TAP members with cancer and other health issues. Pray that many will participate with generosity and love.
- Pray for good health and well-being for those serving in translation ministry and their families.
Review of a draft of the Scriptures: Paraguay
LETRA Paraguay recently conducted a Scripture draft check with the Ñandeva community in Chaco. The community review is a key stage in Bible translation: after drafting the Scriptures, the translators present it to the community to read and discuss together. In this way, men, women, young people and elders help identify whether the text is clear, natural and faithful to the original message. It was a time of participation, reflection and joy as they listened together to the Word in their language. Praise God for the people who participated. Thank God for every step that brings the Ñandeva people closer to having the complete Word in their language. Pray that even as people hear the drafts, God’s Word will penetrate their hearts.
Significant impact: Ethiopia
Wycliffe Ethiopia serves language groups in Ethiopia, across the Horn of Africa and in the Red Sea region. Thank God for the significant impact of Wycliffe Ethiopia. By God’s grace, previously unreached people groups are now receiving the Scriptures in their heart languages. Praise God for both the ongoing written and oral Bible translation programmes, for the Old and New Testaments. Thank God for the JESUS film project, serving 13 languages, including communities in Sudan, Eritrea and the Red Sea region. Pray for the current recording of the JESUS film in three languages, with the Innor version dedicated recently. Pray for the JESUS film Kara and Tsara versions in preparation for dedication. Thank God for the powerful dedication of the Zay New Testament in June.
Five new Bible Translation Programmes started: South Africa, Mozambique, Angola
Thank God for the five new Bible Translation Programmes started this year by Wycliffe South Africa. The Holo, Kisuku, Meetto, Koti and Kaaps languages are privileged to enter the process of translating God’s Word. Pray for the success of the plans made. In June, Timoteo Bachmann, a translation consultant from Brazil, spent three weeks in Angola working with the Oluhanda, Olucilenge and !Xun teams. Timoteo’s training included instruction on oral Bible translation, exegesis and key terms. Although he is the consultant only for the Oluhanda project, he was able to benefit the other two teams as well. They have made some valuable progress since then. Pray for the protection of staff and translation teams against accidents and illnesses. Pray for Mozambique’s complete recovery from cyclones and political turmoil.
Praying for impact: UK, Central Asia
Some Wycliffe UK staff are involved in a translation project in the Ceren* language in Central Asia. Initial translation efforts are underway, but few written resources exist in this language. Most Ceren speakers follow another major religion and are not open to Christianity. A team is helping with language development—producing materials and helping to set up preschools—as a foundation for future Scripture translation. Pray for:
- The first part of the Story of Jesus, being translated into Ceren*—that people will experience the presence of Jesus through reading about him in their language. Pray also for openness to receive the second part, which includes Jesus’ death and crucifixion, as it may challenge their cultural assumptions.
- Protection from spiritual attacks against this work and for safety over the workers, local staff and their families.
