Copy of Streams of Prayer for 24 March 2025

The Streams of Prayer for 24 March 2025 is a circular from the Wycliffe Global Alliance. Wycliffe Caribbean makes this available.

March 23, 2025 – March 29, 2025

Bible Translation Programmes

Wycliffe Global Alliance serves Bible translation movements because we long for language communities to encounter God through his Word. As written in the Alliance Foundational Statements, one of our core values is “trusting God to transform lives through his Word translated into the languages and cultures of the world’s peoples”.

We will pray for Bible translation efforts around the world and specific ways that Alliance organisations participate in the Bible Translation Programmes participation stream. We will also celebrate lives changed through Scripture and pray that many more communities will be powerfully impacted as they encounter God through the Bible translated into the language they understand best.

Oral Bible Storying Project: Malaysia, Singapore

Wycliffe Singapore asks for prayer for an oral Bible storying project in Malaysia. Please pray:

  • For more opportunities to tell local churches about this oral Bible storying project and that the project can complement existing evangelism and discipleship efforts.
  • That the stories crafted will be done well, so that non-Christians and new believers of the language community can hear God’s Word.
  • For more team members as well as a new facilitator.
  • For team members to improve in their skills and knowledge and draw closer to God in the course of their work.

Need for God’s intervention: South Africa

Thank God for the 22 Bible translation programmes in which Wycliffe South Africa is serving, including in Mozambique where they are experiencing difficulty because of cyclones and political unrest. Pray for security for the teams, and for provision and strength in recovery efforts. Wycliffe South Africa has a few new project coordinators who are receiving training. Please pray for them as they learn what to do, and that they integrate well with the team. Pray also for challenges the organisation is experiencing with one of their impact partners. There is a need for God’s wisdom and intervention in this partnership. Pray equally for God’s favour in the significant project funding cuts and for his provision for Bible translation programmes.

Helping refugees learn Romanian and heal from trauma: Ukraine, Romania

Wycliffe Romania and others help teach Ukrainian children in the Sunflower kindergarten program in Romania. Each week, the children engage with groups of Romanian children from the Casa Minunată kindergarten, where the Sunflower kindergarten is located, and have made great progress in learning Romanian. Each family is put in touch with the Ukrainian Church for counselling, help and prayer.

  • Thank God that their trauma is slowly healing and the children are receiving peace and joy;
  • Ask God to strengthen the teachers who are exposed to much sadness through the stories of each Ukrainian family;
  • Ask God to bless the parents of these children and that the families will receive Jesus as their Saviour.

Long-lasting impact: Central Africa Republic

The Association Centrafricaine pour la Traduction de la Bible et l’Alphabétisation (ACATBA) is grateful for the translation of the Bible into Sangö, the official language of the Central African Republic (CAR). Since the New Testament was published in 1932 and the whole Bible in 1966, the Sangö Scriptures have enabled the people to meet God and to acquire new values such as forgiveness, brotherly love and wisdom, which have permeated the society. A revised version of the Sangö Bible was dedicated in 2023. ACATBA is continuing this work by making the Bible even more accessible through its translation into all the languages of CAR that are still waiting for it. This work has helped facilitate church growth in CAR. Local and regional evangelistic campaigns are carried out with materials translated into local languages. Church leaders testify to the impact that Bible translation has had on their mission, including the planting of new churches around the country.

Swiss German Sign Language translation project needs full-time members: Switzerland

Bible translation into Swiss German Sign Language began in 2021. The project is led by an association of Christian Deaf in Switzerland with the help of a Wycliffe Switzerland member. So far, the team has worked on signs for all the Bible books and some important Bible terms which previously did not exist in Swiss German Sign Language. The words are published in an online dictionary. The project is slow-moving because the team is made up mainly of volunteers. Deaf Christians know they need a Bible translation, but there has not yet been anyone willing to commit to this project with uncertain financing. Pray for God to call several Swiss German Deaf to work full-time on Bible translation. Pray for his kingdom to grow among the Swiss German Deaf community.

Translation and Bible teaching trainings: Indonesia

Yaysan Kaleb Yosua requests prayer for the following:

  • In March, basic translation principles training for eight Lawangan and Deah language translators will be held in Palangka Raya. Pray for the translators to understand and apply what they learn and to have servant hearts. Pray for the facilitators to have wisdom in conducting the training. Pray for good health for all involved.
  • Pray for Sunday school teacher training in Payang village, Central Kalimantan. It will be attended by Sunday school teachers from several church denominations, to equip them to creatively use Bible stories to make the stories more alive and enjoyable for children.
