Special Prayer For Healing and Restoration

Sister Juliet Virgo Grey offers this Special Prayer for Healing and Restoration 5 July 2020.

Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

My Brothers, Sisters and Friends,

We hope that you are well. Today, we reflect and meditate on the act of love that Jesus Christ demonstrated when He died on the cross so that we have an opportunity for eternal life. Our focus is on healing and restoration. We know that many persons are still being negatively affected by the impact of Covid-19 and a number of other occurrences. Some persons have suffered the loss of family members and close friends, loss of job/hours, and the loss of businesses. There are people who are ill. There are persons who may be feeling lonely, longing for a hug, a good on- the- spot conversation, a belly full of laughter (just imagine), a pat on the back, etc.

The Apostle Paul gave a word of encouragement to those who were facing challenges:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)

Paul further encouraged the Brethren to keep their minds stayed on

“… whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable— if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things.”

Philippians 4:8 (NIV)

Our aim Brethren is to purposefully maintain a healthy mind, spirit and body. This may involve prayer, studying the word of God, praise and thanksgiving, taking a break, avoiding those things that are set to pollute our minds, exercise and eating properly. Let us be good citizens, good neighbours and good followers of Christ because these are critical to our well-being. It may be a struggle at times or all of the time, but let us keep trying. Therefore, may God’s presence and peace freshly fill us, as we continue this journey.

Today’s prayer is led by our own Sister Juliet Virgo Grey who is a member of our prayer team.

Let us pray:

Sovereign Lord, we come to You in the name of Jesus Christ with a contrite and broken heart. Lord, we ask that You forgive us of all our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Renew a right spirit within us.

Lord, we thank You for today. We thank You for Your love and mercies. We thank You for sustaining us through these troubling times. Lord, we could not make it to this point without You, so we give You all of the glory, honour and praise.

Lord, You see the many hurts that we endure as a country through acts of crime, injustice, loss of all kinds, dysfunctional families and inconsiderate neighbours. We ask that You have mercy on us and heal our nation. Lord, grant wisdom, knowledge, courage and discerning power to those who are called to lead us. Hold each person accountable, Lord.

Lord, we call by name, The Honourable Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness, Minister of Health Christopher Tufton, Minister of Finance Nigel Clarke, health workers and support staff, Minister of National Security Horace Chang, Minister of Education, Karl Samuda, Leader of the Opposition Peter Philips, and their families; Jamaica Defence Force and Jamaica Constabulary Force personnel and Security Guards, all other leaders of government and their support staff.

Lord, we place before You our children, parents and teachers.  God, You see the situation with the COVID-19 and how it has interrupted schools and family life. Despite this, Lord, our children still performed very well in the PEP exams.  We thank You Lord for the placements which were published.  We know Lord that there will be some happy parents and students and some not so happy ones based on school placements. Lord, comfort their little hearts and those of the parents.  Help them to know that this is just the beginning of a milestone. We pray that they will realise that as long as You are with them success will be theirs.  Cover them under the Blood of Jesus Christ, we pray.

Lord, as our children prepare for a new chapter in their lives, order their steps and help them to make the right choices. Lord, You never said that the road would be easy but You promised to be there with us.  Surround every child with Your love, Lord. Bless the parents, teachers and school administrators with the wisdom, knowledge and patience needed for the tasks ahead. Lord, raise them up on eagles wings and cause them to brightly shine.

Lord, remember our young people who are currently preparing for exams; Romeo Elliott, Jhada Graham, Nachkeemi Smith, Shane Brown, Travis Scott, Kimeka Facey, Renae Lindsay and Carissa Heslop. Lord, You know the need of each, so we ask that You will supply every need at this time.

Almighty God, we ask for Your divine restoration of our economy and the many businesses throughout the country. We call by name business owners from our congregation; Ewan and Maxine Oliver; Lanna and Desmond Bennett; Warrick Bogle, Carol and Leroy Blake, Marcia Leair, Robert and Beveline Smith, Paulette Dixon, Kemorine and Karl Henry, Ava Comrie, Catherine Barkley and husband, Cornel Richards and family, Raymond Daly, Everton Lewis, Pauline and Mark Garvey, Astley Hall, Maxine and Benedict Ranger, Melva Knight, Nicole Fender, Sharon Baldie, Karl Jones and others.

Lord, Your word speaks promises of healing and restoration and we thank You for the miracles that You still perform. We claim Your healing power over all our families, relatives, church sisters and brothers and their families, friends, co-workers and loved ones. 

Lord, we pray especially for those suffering from cancer, COVID-19, depression, anxiety, panic attack, heart problem, irregular blood pressure, joint and muscle problems, and other sicknesses and diseases that are affecting Your people. Lord, we ask that You reach down and surround them. Grant them comfort for pain. Help them to know Lord that You are right there even when it seems like they are alone.   Your word said; “Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.” (Psalm 107:19-20, NIV). We call out to You, the Eternal God, with the belief that You will give the order, heal and rescue us from illnesses and other forms of destruction. 

In the Bible, Lord, we read of miraculous healing and we believe that there is no sickness, nor disease that You cannot heal.  Replace every discouragement, Lord, with Your eternal peace. Help us to trust and depend on You. oh Mighty God, to see us through.  We thank You, our Jehovah Rapha.

Lord, we present to You those who are mourning: Brother Andrew Getton who lost his mother and Sister Arlene Tomlinson who lost a brother.

Lord, we now mention our families who are ill: Sisters Iris Lawrence, Jennifer Nicholson, Virginia Muir, Claris Johnson (mother of Jehan Johnson), Marville (Cherry) Murray (Sister Iris Lawrence’s daughter), Janet Chen-Young, Joyce Bailey, Lucille Alexander, Jhada Graham, Ethlyn Atkins, Brother George Gabbidon, and Andrew Robinson (Sister Claire Robinson’s son), Brother Danville Japp’s father, Mr. Isaiah Japp.

We also lift up those on our regular list of sick and shut-ins and their caregivers. May they feel Your healing power, strength, comfort and assurance.

Lord, we thank You that all of us on earth belong to You. As we come before You asking for healing, remind us that You, oh Lord, are in control of everything that happens from our first breath to our last sigh.  Thank You so much Lord for answering our prayers and for Your miraculous healing power.

Lord, please keep us in perfect peace and help us to keep our minds stayed on You.
We thank You Lord in Jesus’ name.
