Brothers, Sisters and Friends, we are hoping that you are well but if not, please let us know by sending your prayer requests

The Lord showed me that I should take some younger persons alongside me in providing encouragement and prayer. Two of our young people agreed to do so on the third weekend of each month, for now. Today’s Encouragement was done by Anjesh Zodge. Anjesh is 14 years of age and is currently in high school He is also a member of Grace Youth Ministries. Please read, meditate and feel free to give a response, as you have been doing.

Overcoming Fear

Fear! Fear is something we all know and have. But what really is fear? It is a natural and powerful human emotion that alerts us to danger, threat or harm, physically or psychologically. There are many things that we fear. Some are common fears of the behaviour of our fellow humankind, some are direct to special people, while others may be related to circumstances. What are you afraid of? Are you afraid of heights, drowning, death, the dark, viruses, certain animals such as lions, bears, snakes and others?

Why do we fear when the Lord God is by our side? He is our Rock, our Sword and our Shield. He keeps us and protects us from all harm. Fear is a natural emotion that can uncontrollably kick into action when we detect some form of harm or danger. But we have nothing to fear if God is always watching over us.

It is very interesting to know that the phrases ‘Fear not’ and ‘Do not fear’ appear in the Bible 365 times. This is a sign from God, giving reassurance once a day for all the 365 days in a normal year. A simple yet powerful verse from Isaiah 41:10 states “Fear not for I am with you. Be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”. I am encouraged by this Bible verse when fear comes at me, to take away my stability. God not only encouraged His people concerning fear but promised to help and give them the strength to face their fears. We can take this instruction and assurance that God provided. We can hold on to it and move on confidently with our lives, free of worries caused by fear.

Are you afraid? With God we can say “Fear! What fear?”

Let us Pray:

Dear righteous and heavenly Father, we come before You today, in the name of Jesus Christ, in honour and reverence. We thank You for protecting us through these hard times in which You are allowing us to be tested. Lord, we thank You for providing us with what we need and even in some instances, our wants. We thank You for keeping us and our family members safe.

Dear Lord, we ask that You cleanse us from all unrighteousness and forgive all of our sins. We ask that You move over our country, Jamaica. Heal our land from the increased crime rate, the Covid-19 Virus and its impact. Lord, touch the hearts of criminals so that they will turn to You for forgiveness and give their hearts to You.

Lord, we pray that You will touch our government, and all the leaders of families, communities, Churches, businesses and other areas within our country, as well as those who are operating on the frontline. We pray that You will ensure that they make the right decisions for the people and that the citizens will follow the protocol relating to the Covid-19 Virus, as they should.

Father, there are many things that we fear, like death, the dark and so many more. But dear Lord we ask that You protect us and give us courage and strength so that we will fear not, as You tell us. We ask that You touch us dear God and come into our hearts now and forevermore. In Jesus’ Name we pray, with thanksgiving.

Amen.
