RENEWED Ministries Prayer Request

We’re doing the ZOOM strategic planning and leadership training for more effective disciple-making with my son Joel Mapesa’s team in Nairobi, Kenya now from yesterday, Wednesday. We end tomorrow, Friday.  Last week we did pastor Isiko’s team in Uganda.  Next week we will be with my son Juma Peter’s team in Ukunda, Kenya.  Joel has 20+ pastors and leaders from 8 countries in the current training.

Several leaders live in refugee camps within Kenya.  It’s exciting and fulfilling.  It’s going very well. Today among other things we looked at ancient paths – customs, traditions etc – that have impacted disciple-making and following Jesus. Challenging. Several leaders spoke about the socio-political and socio-cultural and religious challenges they face even death in following Jesus and disciple-making.  We spoke about how men are socialized to treat women as less than men even beating their wives. They and those in Uganda last week spoke of the cultural backlash if they try to change their centuries-long customs and traditions that are antithetical to following Jesus. Serious stuff.
